About the practice

A practice built around one kind of problem

We act for people whose money was taken by brokers, trading platforms and financial companies. That focus is deliberate, because these cases turn on details that only come from doing them repeatedly.

Who you will be working with

Experience built on the detail of how these cases actually work

S.D. Ramautar leads a team whose practice centres on technology, asset tracing and the handling of sensitive client information. With a working knowledge of the chargeback process, he deals directly with the security and fraud teams at major financial institutions, adapting the approach to each institution's own procedures.

Over the past five years he has worked on cases arising from fraud in online transactions. During that period the practice has contributed to halting the operations of 59 companies engaged in such schemes, and to restoring funds to the people affected by them.

How we practise

What you can expect from us

Straight assessment

If we do not think recovery is realistic, we say so at the first conversation instead of taking on a case that will not go anywhere.

Written terms first

No work begins until an engagement agreement setting out scope and fees has been signed by both parties.

Cross-border practice

Fraud rarely stays in one jurisdiction. We work with counsel and regulators across the countries in which we operate.

Data handled properly

Your information is used to progress your matter and nothing else. It is never sold, rented, or passed to third parties for marketing.

A word of caution

On being approached twice

People who have already lost money to investment fraud are frequently contacted a second time by operations claiming they can recover it, usually in exchange for a payment up front. It is one of the most common follow-on frauds there is.

Before engaging anyone, including us, ask for their registered company number and professional registration, then verify both independently against the relevant public register. A legitimate firm will provide those details without hesitation. Be wary of any firm that guarantees a result, because no one honestly can.

Not sure whether you have a claim?

Tell us what happened. The first conversation is free, and we will give you an honest view of the prospects before you commit to anything.
